The Missions Committee coordinates most church-wide mission projects, starting with the Annual FBC Missions Offering, which generally begins on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday.

Committee members decide on the goal amount, theme and recipients, and work out the publicity, speakers, and other details. Recipients of the 2016 offering, whom we at FBC consider our Mission Partners, are God’s Storehouse, Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, House of Hope, Boys & Girls Club of Danville, Grace & Main Fellowship, and CFB Field Personnel Marc & Kim Wyatt for their ministry to international refugees in Raleigh, NC.

In addition to the annual Missions Offering, the Missions Committee also coordinates the church’s partnership with Woodberry Hills Elementary School.

This partnership has included a school supply collection in July, special luncheons for teachers and staff during National Education Week and Teacher Appreciation Week, reading with children through the Book Buddies program and helping in other ways in which the school might need us.

The Missions Committee also coordinates a food drive for God’s Storehouse in October, and helps organize other smaller projects like setting up games and activities for children during neighborhood Jubilee picnics held by Grace & Main Fellowship at Doyle J. Thomas Park, and lining up a day trip to Raleigh to learn more about the Wyatt’s ministry to internationals.
