Welcome to First Baptist Church of Danville where, as our pastor says almost every Sunday morning, every disciple is a minister and everyone is welcome as a child of God!

We hope that as you explore our website and visit with us in person you will discover our desire to worship God wholeheartedly, our dedication to grow in Christ, our willingness to serve in ministries both within the church and throughout God’s good world, and our openness to all people.

What to expect...

Our worship style is traditional in that we sing hymns from a hymnal, connect with the ancient practices of our faith through confession and silent reflection, have a choir that sings wonderful anthems, and enjoy the moving music of our organ and piano. However, for us, traditional does not need to be stuffy or stiff but can be inviting and inspiring. That is the kind of worship we aspire to as we sing, pray, and reflect together.

When you come on a Sunday, you will find many people in what is traditionally called their “Sunday Best.” Those in our church who dress this way do so out of a deep sense of reverence for God. You will also find some individuals in more casual attire. Those in our church who dress this way do so out of a real sense of comfort in God’s presence. Ultimately though, as a church family, we make space for a diversity of attire and approaches to God because we believe that God accepts all of us just the way we are.

Also, it may be good for you to know that children are welcome in our worship services; we even have worship bags available for any children who would benefit from a more interactive way to engage in worship. We also have nursery care available for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our nursery is staffed by volunteers and a paid, trained nursery worker. These dedicated individuals will care for your child and help them to grow in understanding God’s love for them.

Our Wednesday night dinners and programs are a great time to get to know other Christians while sharing a laid-back meal and engaging in study together. Our dinner is held in our fellowship hall, so it will be best to park in the lower parking lot, accessible from Main Street and enter the fellowship hall down there.

Children of all ages will have an opportunity to engage in both Bible Study and in a time of music, while the youth have fun learning about the stories of our faith.

Adults will have the opportunity to pray for one another and to engage in Bible study, most often led by our pastor.
